Details:

Rules:

  1. Drive your own vehicle or carpool with a friend.
  2. Bring your own camera / laptop gear.
  3. Bring your camera manual if you don’t know how to use your camera.
  4. Leave the kids at home [unless they want to learn. :) ]

Gear to bring:

  1. Camera. A point and shoot will get you by but you’ll get so much more out of what we’ll be doing if you have a dSLR.
  2. Lenses/Flashes. Bring them all. You never know what you might need.
  3. Tripod.
  4. Laptop. If you want to follow along in the digital darkroom you’ll want to bring this and the software.
  5. Proper clothes.
  6. Chili will be provided for lunch.
  7. Misc. Headlamp / flashlight, IR remote

We’ll spend the first half of the day shooting (8-noon) with a break for lunch and then the afternoon (1pm-5pm)will be spent finishing photos in the digital darkroom.

Several of the techniques we’ll be sharing are:

  1. how to achieve soft and balanced light for portraits
  2. how to achieve product/macro shots that don’t look boring
  3. how to shoot in direct sunlight and still achieve great results
  4. how to use gels in your photography to spice things up

For our digital darkroom we’ll be using Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom 2, Gimp, Autostitch (for panos), Photomatix (for HDRs) so if you have a laptop with software feel free to bring it along to walk through it with us.
